Arneis

Arneis is an indigenous white variety from Piedmont, in the north west of Italy. Arneis wines typically display delicious honey, pear, apple and white plum flavours with soft acid.

    Barbera

This variety is native to the Piedmont region in Northwest Italy where it makes the world famous Barbera d’Asti and Barbera di Alba. It is characterized by an unusually vibrant, almost pink, colour; intense raspberry-bomb fruit flavours and excellent acidity.

      Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the great noble varieties, Cabernet is typically characterized by blackcurrant (cassis) flavours but can also display blueberries, eucalyptus, mint, fennel and red berry fruit flavours.

        Chardonnay

A classic Australian wine style with flavours ranging from green apples with smoky bacon oak to big rich ripe tropical fruit flavours. Most are somewhere in the middle with a pleasant blend of peach, rockmelon and tropical fruit flavours and subtle creamy oak characters.

          Durif

Durif is a big meaty and assertive red, which was first, propagated in the Rhone Valley, in France, in the late 1880’s by Dr Durif, a nurseryman. DNA ‘fingerprinting’ techniques suggest Durif is a crossing of Peloursin and the noble Syrah (Shiraz).

            Merlot

A lush and supple style with dark plum and berry fruit flavours variety previously used predominantly in blending with cabernet, it has now gained much popularity in Australia as a straight varietal offering softness and approachability with plush red berry fruit flavours and soft tannins.

              Petit Verdot

Petit Verdot is a literal translation of “the little green one” as it struggles to ripen each year in its home region of Medoc in Bordeaux, France. In the warmer regions of Australia it ripens well and provides colour, tannins and the unmistakable flavour of blue berries and violets to wines.

                Pinot Gris

Although Burgundy gave birth to it, (where at one time it grew amongst the Pinot Noir to add softness and acidity to its red wine) and although Germany and Italy grow more, Pinot Gris’ spiritual home is Alsace. Here it makes fuller-bodied, richly textured, dry spicy whites. In Italy, Pinot Grigio (the Italian name for this French variety) is grown in the cool north-eastern foothills of the Alps, where it tends to make light, crisp fruity whites

                  Sauvignon Blanc

Aromatic tropical fruits with pungent green vegetable flavours typify this variety. It is characterized by a racy acid backbone. Serve chilled.

                    Shiraz

The variety for which Australia has made its own and gained an international reputation for producing outstanding quality wines. Typically Shiraz displays red berry fruit flavours with under-lying white pepper and spice characters.

                      Tempranillo

Tempranillo is the most famous, high quality, red grape of Spain and makes the world-class wines of Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Typically, Tempranillo displays sweet, savoury and spicy flavours such as plum, blackberry, cinnamon, sage and tobacco leaf with firm tannins.

                        Verdelho

Verdelho typically displays tropical fruit flavours such as pineapples and peaches with distinctive lemon overtones. An excellent summer wine served well chilled.

                          Viognier

A variety with a small but burgeoning following in Australia, Viognier is luscious and rich with peaches and cream. It has been described as the white wine for red wine drinkers as it is full-bodied with an attractive mouth-filling texture.
