We are seeking a Work Health Safety (WHS) Advisor based at our winery in the Riverland, reporting to the Manager – People and Culture. The position of WHS Advisor is a key role, working collaboratively with Managers and Supervisors to drive continuous improvement in health and safety matters.
Responsibilities include management of the WHS Management System, providing coaching and technical advice on WHS activities and supporting all levels of the organisation to foster a culture that embodies responsibility and care.
Key duties include:
- Provide support to operations, engaging workers in conversation about safety in their work.
- Collaborate with workers on safety solutions and improvements to processes.
- Support Managers in application of the WHS Management System.
- Based on incident analysis, develop programs of prevention that will engage, educate, and empower the workforce.
- Measure and report on WHS performance.
- Drive and maintain processes for identifying, assessing, managing, and recording hazards and risks.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents to drive a rigorous approach to root cause identification and close out of corrective actions.
- Assist in the early intervention and management of return to work claims.
- Undertake and participate in compliance audits of the WHS systems and processes.
- Keep Managers and Supervisors informed with up to date knowledge of regulations, codes of practice, guidelines, industry news etc, so they can make informed decisions.
- Assist with induction, training, and education processes, driving the importance of safe work practices.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A commitment to best practice safety management and consultation.
- High degree of self-motivation, resourcefulness, and initiative.
- The ability to work both hands-on and undertake administrative tasks as necessary.
- A collaborative approach to teamwork, as well as the ability to work autonomously.
- Experience using systems including MS Office and databases.
- An up to date understanding of WHS Legislation including Return to Work and common safety management practices.
- A Degree/Diploma in Health and Safety or related field.
You will be experienced in WHS management and demonstrate capability and willingness to lead and manage the WHS system, influencing stakeholders to drive positive safety and wellbeing outcomes for the Company.
