Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper (Maternity Leave Cover)

About the Role
Based at our Kent Town office, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, including the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Applications from recent university graduates in accounting are welcome to apply. This role is offered as an 8-month maternity leave cover on a full-time contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the completion of monthly management accounts, including the timely and accurate reconciliation of company balance sheet accounts in line with month-end timelines.
- Support monthly bank reconciliations and review Concur/Visa transactions to ensure accurate coding and processing.
- Contribute to the preparation of statutory accounts and provide support during the annual audit process.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 1years’ experience in an accounting role
- Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial work.
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of GST legislation, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using databases and accounting systems; knowledge of EZY Wine is highly desirable.
- Understanding of the operational requirements of a business and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
