Petit Verdot in Halliday’s 50 Great Reds

If you picked up a copy of the September edition of James Halliday’s magazine ‘Halliday’  you would have come across the 50 Great Reds article written by both James Halliday and Campbell Mattinson. Furthermore, you would have come across our 2015 Estate Petit Verdot listed in the top ’25 Great Reds Under $30′ which were tasted and selected by Campbell Mattinson!

Being our flasghsip variety (and one of our personal favourites) you can only imagine our excitement when we were selected as a Top 25 wine in this category. Listed along the likes of Xanadu and Punt Road Cabernet’s as well as D’Arenberg and Bremerton Shiraz’s, we’re pretty humbled by this result and feel it is an accolade worth sharing!

Campbell’s review left our winemakers with a big smile on their faces and if you haven’t seen or read the review, here it is:

“Kingston Estate has long been a dab hand with this underrated variety. It’s produced such a pretty example here, all violet and juicy berries, topped to a tee by creamy vanilla characters. In pure value terms, this is a hard wine to go past. A bit of difference, a lot of flavour and a bit of X-factor for good measure.”

The Halliday magazine is a great read, we’d highly recommend you grab a copy if you haven’t already! (Although, maybe we’re a little biased because of this great review!)
